Working with Shiftgig, there’s a lot to know in order to be successful and take advantage of picking up the work you want, when you want it. In this three part series, we’ll go over some of the questions we get most frequently from Specialists so you know exactly what to expect when picking up shifts using our app.
PART 1: Applying and Getting Started
Q: What is Shiftgig?
A: Shiftgig builds technology focused on one thing: connecting people who want hourly work with companies that need them. We know everyone benefits when people are empowered to better balance their work and life.
We help people set their schedules and work on their own terms. You can pick up available shifts at your city’s biggest events, venues and companies, right from your iPhone or Android.

Q: How much do you pay?
A: Because Shiftgig operates in many locations, pay differs depending on where you live. It also fluctuates based on the client or position.
On average, pay rates range from $11/hr-$17/hr. If you’re working for our experiential team (called ShiftgigX), you’ll see pay rates between $15/hr-$30/hr.
Keep in mind, you may see shifts above or below these average rates.
Q: What type of work is available?
A: You can work as much (or as little) as you’d like. For that reason, we have a variety of available positions with affiliated skills.
You can accumulate skills based on experience, certifications, successful completion of assessments or training, and market needs. For a full list of available skills (and their descriptions), click here.
Shiftgig works with companies in the food service, hospitality, warehouse, retail and experiential marketing industries. Our clients post their shift needs into the Shiftgig app for workers to claim. You’ll only see shifts that match your skill set.

Q: I filled out an application. Why haven’t I heard back yet, and who will be reaching out to me?
A: We aim to respond to every application within 24-48 business hours. That being said, there are a few reasons you might not have heard back from us yet.
Our email ended up in your spam folder. If you have a Yahoo or AOL email address, emails sent by Shiftgig can end up in your spam/junk folder. Make sure you take a look there before reaching out for help.
Your email address was entered incorrectly. When filling out your application, double check there are no spelling errors in your email address so we can be sure to reach you.
We may not be hiring for the position you applied for in your location. We onboard Specialists based on our clients’ needs, so if you haven’t heard back yet, it might be because we aren’t currently hiring for that skill. Don’t worry, we keep your application on file and will reach out in the future if positions that match your skill set are available.
Once we successfully receive your application, a member of our Specialist Experience team will reach out to you via email to set up an interview.
